I feel like these video articles are all I'm doing these days, but I can't help sharing all the cool music I'm finding! I promise I'll get to other types of articles, but for now, let's check out some great rock music!
Let's start off with another one from Anthem. As I mentioned before, this Japanese band has been going for a while, but this video is for their first major international album, so their pulling all the stops. Great piece of speedy metal!
I know I post a lot of metal here, but I can't deny the power of good AOR, and I'm thankful for labels like Fronteirs Records and their mission to give this kind of music an opportunity to shine. Here's another uplifting, 80s-style epic from Find Me, and it doesn't disappoint!
Sticking with the 80s for a moment, here we have epic 80s hair metal coming from Swedish glam rockers Crazy Lixx. While they may not have the classic pedigree of Def Leppard or Dokken, they have the right sound and attitude to for it!
Saint Vitus seems to be coming back, bring their style of old-school doom metal with them. While the intro seems different, that middle section and is pure Sabbath-y, with crunchy riffs and a wailing, haunted guitar solo!
Here we have another piece of melodic progressive metal from Darkwater. After this song and the previous one, between the atmosphere, the riffs, and the synth solos, this is sounding like an album I shouldn't miss!
Let's wrap things up with some Queensrÿche. As expected, they bring their classic 80s style with some solid riffing and great melodies to go along with their message. Todd La Torre really shines on this one!
The world of rock doesn't sleep cuz I've got more videos for ya! Time for another mix of what's coming out!
Let's start off this list with some nice and crunchy AOR. Hardline has been around the block for some time, so they know how to make some melodic hooks. You might want to "Take a Chance" on this one. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) We got another video from TÝR full of epic folk metal. Can I say that I really like Gunnar's vocals? He really brings the epicness to the music in a way no other band does! Oh, and playing in cave is pretty cool, too.
Talk about 80s AOR! This doesn't even sound new, and I mean that in a good way! I guess this is a comeback of some kind for this band, but I get massive Journey and Asia vibes. This sounds amazing!
Oh, look who's back! Here we get some more solid epic space opera power metal that Iron Savior is known for. With a fist-pumping chorus and some great riffing, it might be more of the same, but that's not a bad thing at all!
Visigoth keep things old-school. Like brothers-in-arms Manowar, Omen, and Manilla Road, we have here some classic traditional metal full of fantasy and bluster. Singer Jake Rogers really has a great voice for this kind of stuff!
Let's close this one out with another video from Beast in Black. They really have forged their own sound, sitting somewhere between power metal and synthwave! In any case, here's one more dose of that 80s cheese turned up to 11!
This month has some great albums coming out, but that doesn't stop me from checking out videos. Here's what I've found this time!
Iron Savior has been in the power metal world for a while, but take a more sci-fi route with their lyrics and story-telling. Perhaps not the most innovative, but certainly a fun listen. As far as I'm concerned, we can't have enough epic power metal!
Bloodbound is another band that's been cranking out power metal since the hey-day of the 2000s, and they play it like it never went out of style! Sure, lyrics about fantasy and dragons might be clichéd for the genre, but if it's done this well, who cares?!
Alright, here's something different. Tremonti is clearly a band I've been sleeping on because this rocks real hard! I've admitted before that I'm only really familiar with his work on Creed, but if he cranks out stuff like this on his own, I have some catching up to do!
I can't say I've heard of this band before, but Darkwater seems to bring some nice, melodic progressive metal here. Mixing solid uptempo energy with a brooding atmosphere, and some nice synth leads, there's lots to like here!
Here's an interesting group! Combining former members of Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, and the Scorpions, we get a decent, hard rockin' track that shows potential. Calling themselves A New Revenge, they might be someone worth keeping an eye on.
Let's finish with something very different. I admit I'm not familiar with Status Quo (which Francis Rossi is known for), but I stumbled across this song and it gives me a very strong ELO feel (like a folky "Mr. Blue Sky"). Worth a listen, I think.
